World’s largest pair of spurs crushed by sleepy truck driver

Published:

What is known as the world’s largest pair of spurs was seriously damaged after a drowsy trucker plowed through the middle of it in Arizona last weekend.

The accident happened on Saturday, February 6th at a roundabout in Wickenburg, Arizona.

According to The Wickenburg Sun, the truck driver apparently fell asleep at around 3:40 a.m. while approaching the roundabout and crashed into two light poles before it jumped a curb, smashed the spurs, and landed atop a three foot rock wall.

The spurs, which were crafted by Wickenburg welders several years ago as an “enormous tribute to the American cowboy,” were broken in half in the incident. The spurs, as well as the entire display, are now in need of repair.

Cleanup of the wreck took around six hours to complete.

The truck driver was not hurt in the accident, but they have since been cited for  failure to control speed.
