Young boy in stable condition after running in front of semi truck on his way to the park

A 10-year-old boy is in stable condition today after being struck by a semi truck while crossing the street on Monday evening.

The accident happened on January 4th at around 5:30 p.m. in Quitman, Texas.

According to ABC 7 News, The boy ran out into the intersection of Redbud and Highway 37, known as Main Street inside city limits, and was struck by a northbound semi truck that was unable to stop.

The boy suffered serious injuries in the crash but was able to speak to emergency response personnel. He was transported to a nearby hospital but was later flown to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. He is currently in stable condition.

Police say that the boy was on his way to the park with four other children at the time of the accident.

The truck driver involved in the incident has not been identified.
