A young man was killed while walking along a highway in San Diego early on Sunday morning. 

The incident happened on April 17th just after 5:30 a.m. along Interstate 15 near Scripps Ranch, California.

According to Fox 5 San Diego, the 19-year-old man was walking along the right shoulder of northbound I-15 just south of Carroll Canyon Road when he suddenly wandered into lanes of traffic and was struck by an oncoming semi truck. The collision left the man with serious injuries, which he succumbed to at the scene, and was soon pronounced dead. 

The truck driver stayed at the scene to speak with investigators. A toxicology report is being conducted on the deceased to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident. The crash is still under investigation.
