Published:

A woman is dead and her two children are critically injured after het attempt to pass a semi truck on a curve ended in tragedy

The accident happened on Monday, August 22nd in Cleveland, Texas near the Cleveland Municipal Airport.

According to KHOU 11, 32-year-old Donna Wright was heading west on FM 787 when she tried to pass a tractor trailer on a curve. As she attempted the pass, she overcorrected and lost control of her car, sending the vehicle across a grassy median and into the path of an eastbound semi truck. The force of that impact eventually sent the car crashing back into the truck she initially tried to pass, and ejected a 2-year-old boy in a car seat.

Wright was pronounced dead at the scene. The two-year-old and another seven-year-old passenger were flown to the Texas Medical Center with critical injuries. Their current condition is not known. Both truck drivers were not seriously injured in the incident. Investigators are still working to determine whether speed or road conditions were factors in the wreck.
