A container terminal located in Boston Harbor was closed on Wednesday after a truck driver was fatally struck by a truck.
The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. on June 15 at the Conley Container Terminal.
Massachusetts State Police have confirmed that the truck driver who was killed was struck by a tractor trailer at the facility, according to Boston 25 News.
Massport, the company who operates the terminal, issued the following statement on the fatal accident:
The safety and security of those that use our facilities is our top priority. The unfortunate accident this morning involved the death of a truck driver accessing Conley on behalf of a private trucking company. An investigation into the accident is currently underway.
Officials closed the terminal soon after the accident. It isn’t clear when the facility will reopen.
