Car driver arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide in multi-vehicle crash that killed trucker

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says that a motorist was arrested following a crash that killed a truck driver in Seattle on Tuesday.

The crash occurred around 4 a.m. on September 6 on I-5 at Northeast Northgate Way in Seattle.

WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said that two semi trucks and two passenger vehicles were involved in a collision in the southbound lanes of I-5.

One of the truck drivers was killed in the crash, according to Johnson.

Johnson also confirmed that one of the passenger vehicle drivers had been taken into custody for the investigation of vehicular homicide.

Six mile traffic backups were reported on I-5 due to the crash.

The latest update from the Washington Department of Transportation indicates that some lanes are still shuttered eight hours after the crash:

2, not 1, left lanes remain closed (HOV lane one of them) on SB I-5 at Northgate Way in #Seattle. 3 right lanes remain open right now. Backup all the way from Mountlake Terrace. This is after an earlier collision. Express Lanes open. Plan ahead!
