Chocolate covered raisins, peanuts spilled in wreck that separated truck from trailer, sparked additional crashes

A portion of Interstate 465 was shut down for eight hours for a crash that spilled chocolate covered raisins and peanuts across the roadway.

The accident happened on Thursday, May 19th just after 1 a.m. in Indianapolis, Indiana.

According to Fox 59 News, a semi truck was heading south on I-465 when it struck the metal structure holding the highway signs just north of the Washington Street exit. The impact separated the cob of the truck from the trailer and tore the trailer in half, causing the load of chocolate covered raisins and peanuts to spill.

The initial semi truck crash and the resulting traffic backups caused two additional crashes, which sent one person to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The crash and subsequent spill forced the closure of the right two lanes of I-465 for more than eight hours as crews cleared the mess.
