CHP arrests two for stealing $900K worth of trucks, containers, tires, and fireworks

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently arrested two people in connection with a nearly $1 million cargo theft scheme.

The investigation began when the Vernon Police Department discovered a stolen cargo container in Vernon, California, and requested assistance from the CHP’s Southern Division Special Services Command’s Cargo Theft Interdiction Program (CTIP) Task Force.

Following a joint investigation by CTIP and the Vernon Police Department, authorities recovered three stolen tractor and four stolen chassis loaded with four stolen cargo containers.

Two people were arrested.

The total value of the recovered items is estimated at $900,999.00.

CHP says that the stolen cargo included fireworks, tires, and other items.

The incident remains under investigation by CTIP.

“This is an excellent example of a great collaborative effort between agencies to better serve the people of California,” CHP said.
