CHP recovers over $500,000 worth of stolen Best Buy merchandise

A California man was recently arrested in Fresno County in connection with a major cargo theft sceme.

Around noon on December 1, the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Central Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force responded to a 911 call regarding suspicious activity in an unincorporated area of Fresno County.

The caller told police that they believed a commercial load of goods from a semi trailer was being stolen.

When CHP responded to the scene, they “observed two semi trailer trucks backed up against each other cross docked to unload the stolen merchandise.”

Troopers made contact with suspect Jaspreet Singh, 59, of San Fernando Valley, and placed him under arrest.

Singh was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of cargo theft.

CHP says that the goods were electronics stolen from retailer Best Buy worth more than $500,000.
