CHP reminds drivers about required brake check after runaway truck crashes

Published:

This week, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a reminder to truckers about what can happen when they fail to stop and check their brakes.

On March 29, CHP’s Gold Run Division shared several photos of a truck that experienced brake failure after the driver apparently bypassed a brake check area.

From CHP:

He must really hate that sign! Joking aside, this just happened on 80 WB at the runaway truck gravel area west of Crystal Springs. If you drive an 18 wheeler, you are required to use the brake check area at 80 WB at Nyack to check your brakes. Prevent costly accidents like this. Thankfully no one was hurt!
