“Cognitive impairment” blamed for missing man’s fatal sprint towards semi truck 

A previously missing elderly man has died after running into the path of an oncoming semi truck in North Carolina on Monday morning. 

The incident happened on May 9th at 8:43 a.m. in Greensboro. 

According to Fox 8 News, a semi truck was traveling along the US 29 South exit ramp and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when 77-year-old Vielace Rudolph Tippett ran in front of the moving rig. Tippett died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

At the time of the incident, Tippett was the subject of a ‘Silver Alert’ – a system designed for notifying the public about missing elderly people, particularly those with dementia, alzheimers, or in other states of cognitive decline. Tippett was described as suffering from “cognitive impairment.”
