At least seven portable toilets spilled onto a Wisconsin freeway early on Tuesday morning, damaging four vehicles in their wake.
The accident happened on August 9th in Pewaukee along Interstate 94 at around 4:45 a.m.
According to ABC 12, a Wisconsin Department of Transportation video shows the fleet of port-o-potties sliding off the trailer while remaining upright.
“I see a port-a-potty flying back at me, and I try my best to swerve out of the way, but it hits my driver’s side. It causes me to pull over,” driver Alex Hilario said.
“I was so shook. I was beyond shook. I was like is that a port-a-potty? I was like where did it even come from? Did they set it there? Because it was standing but rolling. So I was like there is no way this is possible. There’s no way this makes sense,” Hilario continued.
“All of a sudden out of nowhere, there was a, a what? I didn’t know what it was at first until I hit it, and I said, ‘Oh my God I think I just hit a port-a-John in the middle of I-94,'” said Vern Hicks, another motorist whose car was severely damaged in the incident.
The Waukesha Sheriff’s Department reports that the truck initially hauling the portable toilets was owned by LRS, who did not respond to requests for comment. The Sheriff’s department says that the driver was not cited for the incident.
