Connecticut State Police (CSP) say that they placed a truck driver out of service following a strike at a railroad bridge.
The bridge strike occurred at the Newent Road (Route 138) train bridge in Lisbon, Connecticut, causing a “can-opener” crash that ripped off the roof of the trailer.
“Who would have guessed, but a 13’1” trailer cannot fit under a 12’7” bridge,” CSP’s Montville Division quipped in an August 2 social media post.
CSP said that this is the ninth time that a truck has become damaged or disabled from hitting this bridge.
Following the bridge strike, a CMV inspection was performed. CSP says that seven violations were discovered, leading to the driver being placed out of service, along with “other enforcement action.”
“Whether you’re in a commercial motor vehicle or a passenger car, always be observant of posted signs and advisories while you travel on our Connecticut roads,” CSP said.
