Florida police have cited a fifteen year old with a learner’s permit for a major crash that left several people injured last week.
The crash occurred Friday, January 14, in Jacksonville, Florida.
A truck struck a passenger vehicle turning in an intersection, then hit a third vehicle, causing that vehicle to crash into a fourth vehicle. The out of control truck crashed off of the road and into an Ace Hardware store, causing serious structural damage. The truck struck one of the store owners and pinned another store owner.
The truck driver, the two co-owners of the hardware store, a 15 year old motorist, and her 11 year old passenger were all transported to the hospital for treatment of various injuries.
Following an investigation into the crash, police determined that the 15 year old motorist, who was driving with a learner’s permit, was at fault in the multi-vehicle crash.
According to First Coast News, the teen driver initially told police that she had a green arrow to turn left ahead of an oncoming semi truck. However, the dash cam video from the semi truck showed that the truck driver actually had the green light.
The teen driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way and a learner’s permit violation.
