Dash cam video shows semi truck striking Michigan trooper’s vehicle on I-94

Michigan State Police released alarming dash cam video from a crash involving a semi truck and a state police cruiser that happened earlier this month.

The crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. on April 8, on eastbound I-94 near Lawrence, Michigan.

In the video, 24 year old Virginia-based truck driver Easton Norby-Varclac strikes a police cruiser driven by Michigan State Police Trooper Cole Knaup as it is parked in the right lane of the interstate, blocking traffic for a previous crash.

Knaup survived, suffering a concussion as well as cuts and bruises.

Norby-Varclac wasn’t hurt.

Norby-Varclac has been held in Van Buren County Jail on charges of reckless driving causing serious impairment of a bodily function, and failure to yield to an emergency responder causing injury.

Norby-Varclac is set to appear in court on April 27.

Knaup remains off work recovering from the crash.
