Debris from too-tall load sends motorist to hospital

A motorist was sent to the hospital on Monday after an oversize load knocked some debris into their car.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. in Hollywood, Florida.

According to Local 10 News, a semi truck hauling an excavator in the northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike struck the Sheridan Street overpass, knocking debris from the bridge. The debris then struck a four wheeler traveling along the highway.

A passenger in the four wheeler was then transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The center and right lane of the northbound side of the Turnpike were shut down for a time to clear the debris but traffic was flowing in the left lane.

No further details have been released.
