A semi truck completely demolished a gas station in California on Tuesday morning after leaving the roadway and crashing through a fuel station and into the building.
The accident happened on April 20th just before 10:15 a.m. in Fillmore, California at 117 Ventura St., otherwise known as Highway 126
According to VC Star, the semi truck was heading west on Highway 126 when the driver became distracted and struck a bridge abutment. The driver then knocked over a power pole and a palm tree before skidding into a fuel pump at a nearby gas station. The truck came to a stop inside of the gas station building.
No one inside of the building was hurt in the incident, and the sole cashier was able to shut off the pumps, preventing a major fuel spill. The truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital for a possible concussion. No other injuries have been reported. Drugs and alcohol have since been ruled out as possible factors in the crash.
Officials say that the gas station building was moved off of its foundation in the incident, and may be closed for months. A safety fence has since been erected around the property.
