Double-decker cow-hauler overturns in OKC

Published:

Multiple cows were killed when a livestock hauler overturned in Oklahoma City on Sunday morning.

The incident happened on September 18th along Interstate 44 at the Southwest 59th Street exit.

ABC 5 reports that no other vehicles were involved when the truck lost control and overturned onto the shoulder. The trucker was not injured, but at least 14 of the around 100 cows inside the two-level trailer were killed.

The cows on the top floor of the trailer were removed after cutting a hole in the roof, but the trailer had to be righted before the cows in the bottom level could be freed.

The scene took hours to clear. The roadway has since been reopened. No further information has been released.
