Driver crushed by falling excavator at construction site

A truck driver is dead after a large piece of equipment crushed their cab at a construction site in California on Wednesday morning. 

The accident happened at a construction site on June 22nd at 11:39 a.m. where Ridgecrest Road turns into Yates Road in Victorville, California. 

According to Victor Valley News Group, extensive extrication was required to remove the driver from the crushed cab. The driver was pronounced dead shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene. 

The driver was killed at the site of the future Green Tree bridge, which will eventually connect the city of Victorville to the town of Apple Valley through use of the Yucca Loma bridge. No further information about the accident has been released.
