Driver dies after falling off his semi truck

Published:

A truck driver is dead after falling off of his rig while picking up a load, officials say.

The accident happened on January 4th in Pueblo, Colorado.

According to The Pueblo Chieftain, 55-year-old truck driver, James Fiddler, was at the EVRAZ Rocky Mountain Steel Mill picking up a load when he fell off the bed of his truck. Fiddler was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating the death, which has been described as a “freak accident.”

“We are saddened to report that a fatality of a third-party contractor has occurred at our Pueblo facility. We are working with OSHA and the primary employer to investigate this matter,” said Annie Stefanec, director of communications for EVRAZ North America.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the family during this difficult time.”
