Driver ‘followed GPS until he lost control,’ police say

Published:

A truck driver ran off a narrow roadway after being misguided by a GPS, responding officers say.

The incident happened on Monday night, January 10th at around 7:45 p.m. near Bridgeport, West Virginia.

According to 5 WDTV, the driver says he was on Route 219 when his GPS told him to turn onto Conley Run Road, so he followed it. The driver then took the narrow, icy road and drove until he lost control, damaged the Conley Run Road bridge guardrail, ran off the road and down a hill, and even damaged a property owner’s fence.

Responding police described road conditions as “ice with a dusting of snow on top.”

The wreck has since been cleared, but it is unclear if the driver received any citations for the incident.
