A driver was killed in a crash that ended with his rig hanging off of an overpass in Texas on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just before 11:35 a.m. in Allen, Texas in the 700 block of US 75 at the overpass at West Bethany Drive.
ABC 8 reports that the rig was heading southbound on US 75 when it collided with another vehicle. The truck then crashed right over the barrier and came to a stop with the cab hanging off of the roadway and the trailer overturned. First responders found the male driver outside of his truck when they arrived on scene. He died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victim’s family and friends as they deal with their loss,” Allen PD said in a press release.
As of 3:20 p.m., crews were still on scene attempting to clear the highway and expect the area to remain shut down for “an extended period of time.” Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
The driver’s identity has not been released. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the department at 214-509-4200.
