A truck driver was killed in the aftermath of a tire blowout in Tennessee on Tuesday.
The incident happened on the afternoon of September 13th in Williamson County, Tennessee.
According to Fox 17 Nashville, 70-year-old trucker James Baker was heading south on Interstate 65 between Interstate 840 and Saturn Parkway when his left steer tire blew out. The blowout caused his Peterbilt to cross the center median, overturn, and landin the northbound lanes of I-65. A southbound Honda Civic then struck the rear of the semi truck and also ended up in the center median.
The motorist was not injured in the incident, but Baker died from the injuries sustained in the accident. Two more northbound vehicles were struck by debris from the wrecked rig. Both motorists were unhurt.
Cleanup of the incident snarled traffic for hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage, shutting down I-65 in both directions. The area has since been cleared.
