Driver pleads no contest to felony charges in 74 mph crash with trooper

Published:

A truck driver has pleaded no contest to felony charges related to a high speed crash into a police cruiser in Michigan last month.

The accident happened on April 8th in Paw Paw, Michigan, but the driver pleaded guilty this week.

According to News Channel 3, 24-year-old Easton Norby-Vardac was going 74 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 94 when he struck the stopped police vehicle, which was responding to a previous wreck.

Norby-Vardac suffered minor injuries in the crash. Officer Cale Knaup sustained a concussion, cuts, and bruises.

Norby-Vardac has since pleaded no contest to reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function, and failing to use due care when passing stationary emergency vehicle. His sentencing date is scheduled for July 25th.
