Shelle Lichti founded the industry’s largest online support group for LGBTQ truckers in 2008. The 4,000 members of the Facebook group, LGBT Truckers, offer support, tips, and a safe place to share experiences.
LGBTQ+ Truck Driver Network TDN
LGBTQ+ Truck Driver Network provides social and educational resources to members of the professional LGBTQ+ trucking community, their allies, friends, and family members. LGBTQ+ TDN works towards building a network of supportive and diverse organizations and companies in the truck driving profession.

Semi Queer
Author and former trucker, Anne Balay, sheds light on the harsh realities of truckers’ lives behind the wheel in her book Semi Queer. Balay discovers that, “for people routinely subjected to prejudice, hatred, and violence in their hometowns and in the job market, trucking can provide an opportunity for safety, welcome isolation, and a chance to be themselves–even as the low-wage work is fraught with tightening regulations, constant surveillance, danger, and exploitation.”
