Driver tailed, flagged down after fatally striking teenager

A truck driver was followed by a motorist and flagged down by police after striking a teenager in Idaho on Friday afternoon. 

The accident happened in Boise, Idaho at around 1:30 p.m. on October 21st. 

According to KTVB 7 News, a teenage boy was on his bike stopped on the west side of Highway 55 near the Beacon Light Road intersection when he was struck by a semi truck taking a right onto Beacon Light Road. Witnesses say the truck driver did not stop and kept driving along Beacon Light Road. 

A motorist who saw the incident then dialed 911 and followed the truck as other witnesses rushed to the boy and began first aid. Police soon responded to the 911 call and pulled over the truck driver more than 4 miles away from the accident. Officers interviewed the truck driver, but no charges or citations have been issued for the incident. 

The boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The Ada County Coroner’s Office is still working to determine the boy’s exact cause of death. Police are still investigating the incident.
