A truck driver will rake in an extra $25,000 a year for the rest of his life after winning the lottery in North Carolina late last month.
Truck driver Alton Bailey bought his winning $2 ticket for the November 30th drawing from Riley Hill Mart in Wake County, North Carolina. He says he showed up at the lottery headquarters on Friday, December 2nd without knowing what exactly he had won.
“I really didn’t know how much I won until I got here,” he said to Fox 8. “I was just hoping it was something great.”
When he arrived, he found he had the choice of a $390,000 lump sum or $25,000 a year for life. Bailey chose $25,000 a year for life – he took home $17,748 after taxes for his first yearly payment.
Bailey says he is going to use this year’s winnings to complete some home repairs.
