Emergency repairs underway after rig plunges off interstate

Crews are working to make repairs after a semi truck went plummeting off an interstate in New Orleans early on Friday morning.

The accident happened on February 25th in New Orleans, Louisiana at 3:38 a.m.

The New Orleans Police Department reported that the semi truck was heading west on Interstate 10 near exit 234 when it lost control, struck a guardrail, and went through the concrete barrier. The truck then landed on the ground below.

The unnamed truck driver was transported to the hospital with injuries that were described as non life threatening, reported WDSU 6 News.

Officials report that there will be intermittent closures on that portion of the interstate as crews work to repair damage done in the incident.

No further information on the crash has been released.
