Family-owned trucking company to close for good, nearly 80 to be laid off

Dozens of workers will be laid off in the coming weeks as a Wisconsin-based trucking company ceases operations.

Arcadia, Wisconsin-based Pehler & Sons Trucking, Inc. will permanently close on or before May 31, 2022, according to filings with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

The company will begin laying off 78 workers starting on April 27, with more layoffs continuing each week until the company’s facility shutters for good.

All of the workers have been notified of the impending layoffs, according to the filing.

Pehler & Sons operates 75 trucks and 200 trailers, according to the company website.

The company was founded in 1936 as John J. Pehler Trucking and remained family-owned. Pehler & Sons provides dry van freight services to customers throughout the U.S.
