Fatal collision between SUV, semi truck sparks 35 acre wildfire 

A wreck between a semi truck and an SUV sparked a acres wide wildfire in California on Thursday afternoon. 

The accident happened on August 19th west of Redding, California on Highway 299 at around 12:30 p.m. 

According to The Record Searchlight News, the SUV crossed the centerline of the roadway and collided head-on with the semi truck, killing the motorist. The trucker was also injured, but the extent of their injuries is not known. The wreck caused a fuel leak on the tractor trailer and sparked a vegetation fire that eventually grew to 35 acres by 5 p.m.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is still warning drivers to “please proceed through the area with caution.”
