Four men arrested in Maryland for theft of 750 gallons of diesel

Published:

This week, Maryland police arrested four people for allegedly stealing hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from a truck stop.

At 5 a.m. on May 30, the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to a reported theft in progress at the New Transit Truck Stop in Millersville, Maryland.

When police arrived at the truck stop, they spotted a gold Chevrolet SUV being driven away from a U-Haul at the location.

The officers stopped the SUV and detained the occupants.

Using surveillance video, police were able to determine that the four individuals in the SUV had pumped about 750 gallons of diesel into storage containers in the U-Haul.

According to WMAR, the suspects found a way to override the pump system in order to steal fuel.

Police arrested and charged the following four suspects: Michael Gibson, 53; Jacob Hartley, 36; Xavier Harper, 32; and Shawn Mackey, 28.

Investigators believe that there may be more diesel fuel thefts linked to the suspects.
