Four people hurt after semi barrels through three cars, two buildings

Published:

Four people were hurt after a semi truck lost control and collided with multiple vehicles and buildings on Sunday evening.

The accident happened on February 27th in Davenport, Iowa at 11:56 p.m.

According to TV 6 News, the semi truck was heading east at the 3400 block of Rockingham Road when the driver lost control and struck a Dodge Ram 1500 heading westbound and then a westbound Cadillac XTS. The truck then struck a westbound Chevy Equinox in the 3000 block of Rockingham Road before crashing through the side of a building and coming to a rest inside a home. The force of the impact completely ripped apart the building, and two people inside of the home were injured, one seriously.

The truck driver sustained only minor injuries, and the Cadillac driver drove themselves to the hospital for minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported. No charges have been filed against the truck driver, and the exact reason behind the crash is still unclear.

“I got to Rockingham and it was something I’d never expected. The cab of this big semi was just buried in the house right next door. I just wondered how anyone was going to live,” said Annette Oberlander, an employee of the hair studio that operates out of the now-demolished building, to The Dispatch.

“As an insurance agent, I’ve seen plenty of cars that hit buildings or homes. Have to say I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Tracy Wachal-Naab, an insurance agent dealing with the claim.
