Georgia cops nab trucker who got stuck on backroad for being massively overweight

Published:

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) says that they recently cited a truck driver thousands of dollars for a weight violation after he was caught using a country road to avoid the interstate.

On Thursday, Georgia DPS took to social media to highlight a recent violation discovered on a truck using Nickajack Road in Flintstone.

Short cuts are not always the best route. This CMV driver was using a county road to bypass the interstate when he ran off the road and got stuck. After the tow truck pulled him out, he was weighed and cited for being 65,100 over legal weight,” Georgia DPS said.

Georgia DPS shared a photo of the overweight assessment citation that listed the truck’s gross vehicle weight as 121,100 pounds.

The citation lists the truck as 65,100 pounds over the legal weight of 56,000 pounds and issued a $3255 fine.
