Girl Scouts get up close and personal with big rigs to earn trucking badges

Published:

A Nebraska trucking group and state police recently teamed up to host an event allowing Girl Scouts to get hands-on experience with semi trucks.

The Nebraska Trucking Association‘s Women’s Council and the Nebraska State Patrol hosted the event in Omaha for a group of 40 Girl Scouts from the Daisies, Brownies, and Junior levels.

The Girl Scouts learned about the trucking industry and were allowed to explore trucks brought to the event.

All of the Girl Scouts in attendance earned a trucking badge.

Additionally, Nebraska State Patrol Investigator and NTA Women Council Volunteer, Kris Hunzeker, also taught a coloring book exercise and led the scouts in a Rice Krispy treat truck craft.

Trucking companies Werner Enterprises, Williams Transportation Inc, Lift Solutions, Inc., and Platte River Concrete Co. also participated in the event.
