An interstate in Georgia will be partially closed on Thursday night as crews work to remove a semi truck from a creek underneath an Interstate 16 bridge.
The accident happened on Wednesday night, June 22nd in Twiggs County, Georgia.
According to 13WMAZ News, A semi truck in the right lane of I-16 lost control when a tire blew, sending it swerving into the truck traveling in the left lane. As a result, the truck in the left lane lost control and crashed through the space between two bridges, where it came to a rest upside down in the creek below.
Crews had to “cut the driver out” of the wrecked truck and they were transported to a nearby hospital. No further information has been released.
Only one lane of westbound I-16 will be open at mile marker 17 beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23rd. Crews will work to remove the wrecked semi truck and clear debris left from the wreck. Alternate routes include exit 18 at Bullard Road, or Highway 129 or Highway 80.
