Plans have been unveiled for the reopening and relaunch of a popular Tennessee truck stop that was closed last summer due to a fire.
On August 16, the Tennessean Truck Stop, located off I-65 at Exit 22 in Cornersville, Tennessee, showed off plans for a new 25,000-square-foot building. A ground-breaking ceremony commemorating the start of construction work was held at the site on August 12.
The rebuilding news comes a little more than a year after the truck stop was closed following a grease fire started in the Tennessean’s restaurant, causing the roof to collapse. The only portion of the truck stop that was salvaged following the fire was a single fueling station canopy.
The rebuilt store will feature new amenities, including a full-service cocktail bar, an ice cream shop with donuts and coffee, and a quick-service deli with pizza, wings, and sandwiches. The Tennessean BBQ restaurant will also reopen with the same recipes but expanded seating and a rooftop deck near the second floor bar.

Construction is expected to take about a year to complete.

The Tennessean Travel Stop has been in business since 1974.
