Wow! Smoke can be seen from I-80. A Love’s Travel Stop store in Gary, Indiana, which also contains a Denny’s restaurant caught on fire this morning. Flames were shooting through the roof. Security on sight tells me no one was inside. @cbschicago pic.twitter.com/sHm9VOpzcH

“All commuters: we are asking you to divert your traffic away from Grant Street between the expressway and 35th Avenue. The Gary Fire Department is working hard to contain the fire at Love’s Truck Stop. Please keep the area clear for emergency vehicles. Do not come to the area or on to the property to sightsee or take photos!” the Gary Police Department said around noon.
Love’s says that the store is closed indefinitely. The company says that all workers and customers were able to exit the building safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is a developing story.
