Major traffic delays in Columbus for active shooter on I-71

Transportation officials in Columbus, Ohio, are reporting significant traffic backups following an active shooter situation on Friday morning.

Police responded to an active shooter on I- 71 north of Gemini Place in north Columbus around 10 a.m. on Friday morning.

According to reports, a person on foot was firing on vehicles on the interstate.

Police say that at least one responding officer opened fire on the suspect.

The suspect is now listed in critical condition.

All officers involved in the incident are unhurt, according to police.

“I-71 North will be shut down at I-270. I-71 S will be down to one lane at Gemini Place. Please avoid the area,” Columbus police said.
