New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at a rest area on Thursday night.
According to NYSP, the crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on December 29 at the Wallkill Rest Area on I-84.
Police say that 26 year old New York resident Derrick N. Rosa was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry westbound on I-84.
NYSP says that for “unknown reasons,” Rosa left the roadway and then entered the rest area.
Once in the rest area, the Camry struck a parked semi truck.
Montgomery EMS paramedics declared Rosa dead at the scene.
Police did not provide information on whether the truck driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
