Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Office of Field Operations recently discovered a massive amount of marijuana at a Detroit cargo facility.
The drug bust occurred at the Fort Street Cargo Facility, in Detroit, Michigan, on May 11, 2022.
Authorities say that a x-ray scan was used on a tractor trailer entering the U.S. from Canada.
A subsequent physical inspection conducted by officers and a canine unit revealed 2,175 pounds of marijuana concealed within boxes manifested as foam pool toys.
CBP says that the drugs and trailer were seized.
“This seizure underscores CBP’s long standing commitment to the border security mission,” said Port Director Devin Chamberlain. “The men and women of CBP continue to work diligently to keep our Nation and our communities safe.”
