Nissan driver ticketed for driving up and partially crashing off car carrier ramp in Florida

Published:

This week, Florida firefighters rescued a motorist who drove up the ramp of a car carrier, then partially crashed off, leaving his vehicle dangling.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Pinebrook Road and Pinebrook Way in Venice, Florida.

According to firefighters, “A car carrier was dropping off a vehicle to a nearby resident when the accident occurred. The car carrier was parked with its hazards on, under a streetlight with the ramp down when the vehicle struck it.”

Firefighters say that a middle-aged man driving a Nissan Maxima “drove up a car carrier and crashed near the top, leaving it hanging over the edge precariously close to falling off.”

When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found the man still sitting in the Nissan unhurt.

Venice FL Fire Rescue says that crews used industrial straps to secure the front of the vehicle to the car carrier, then had a wrecker stabilize it from the rear.

The driver was then successful extricated from the Nissan.

The motorist was cited for careless driving by the Venice Police Department, according to Venice Fire Rescue.
