No charges issued after semi truck runs red light in fatal crash

A man is dead after a semi truck ran a red light in Maryland on Thursday afternoon, causing a serious collision. 

The accident happened on April 21st at around 2:45 p.m. in Edgewood. 

According to CBS Baltimore, the 66-year-old truck driver was heading north on Emmorton Road when he failed to stop for a red light at an intersection and turned west onto Philadelphia Road. The semi truck then collided with two vehicles traveling south on Emmorton Road, clipping the fender of a jeep and sending a Chrysler skidding off the roadway. 

The driver of the Chrysler, 36-year-old Raul Alejandro Smith, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries. 

No charges have been filed for the incident as of 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 21st. Officials are still investigating the incident.
