One dead, 21 injured, in nine vehicle crash in Ohio

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) confirmed that one person lost his life in a major multi-vehicle crash in Allen County on Sunday.

The crash was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. on September 4 on I-75 in Lima, Ohio.

OSHP said that a southbound semi truck driven by Dale K. Anglin, 75, struck several vehicles as traffic slowed on the interstate due to a separate crash.

According to the Lima Fire Department, the crash ultimately involved three semi trucks and six cars.

Joseph B. Schwarz, 64, who was a rear passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash, died at the scene, according to reports.

The Lima Fire Department reported 22 patients including Schwarz. Ten people were transported to nearby hospitals while another 11 were treated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
