Pedestrian in critical condition after suspected DWI sedan sends semi truck into hotel pool

Published:

A pedestrian is in critical condition after a semi truck wrecked with a sedan, sending the rig smashing into a hotel pool.

The accident happened on Saturday, June 11th at around 3 a.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

According to 9 ABC, a black sedan collided with a semi truck on an access road off of Interstate 35, sending both vehicles off of the roadway, into a wooden pole, and through a wall at the Hallmark Inn and Suites hotel. The semi truck came to a stop with its cab in the empty hotel pool.

“The sedan became trapped between the 18-wheeler and the concrete wall and the 18-wheeler continued forward with the cab of the vehicle crashing into the empty hotel pool,” police said in the release.

A woman who was “walking along the sidewalk” at the time of the crash was struck by the vehicles and was transported to a nearby hospital in “critical condition.” Two occupants in the sedan were also taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The truck driver was not hurt in the crash. The hotel building sustained “minor damage to the windows on the first floor,” police said.

Officers “conducted a DWI investigation on the driver of the sedan,” but the results of that investigation have not been released.
