People’s Convoy expected to continue this week after brief weekend hiatus

Published:

The People’s Convoy is expected to continue circling the DC area this week, prompting police to implement more rolling closures.

Monday, March 21st marks the 26th day since The People’s Convoy arrived in the DC area, and motorists are being warned that this week will likely see more road-closure related delays as police shut down exits and block roadways to keep the trucks moving along.

There were major backups along Interstate 395 in DC Saturday as the convoy rolled through, but the group took a break on Sunday. The People’s Convoy has collected more than $1.7 million in donations and is using the funds to cover the cost of fuel. In order to distribute the funds, The People’s Convoy are asking that participants turn in their fuel receipts. These receipts must match the date of the slow rolls, and must be the original receipts, reported ABC 7.

DC police have extended their deployment of Civil Disturbance Units until March 28th due to the convoy.
