Pickup collides with OSP cruiser at “freeway speeds” during encounter with semi truck

Published:

No one was hurt after a pickup truck collided with a police cruiser pulled over with a semi truck in Oregon on Tuesday night.

The accident happened on April 19th at around 6:30 p.m. near Roseburg, Oregon.

According to KOIN News, the trooper pulled over a semi truck on Interstate 5 and was outside of his patrol vehicle when a pickup traveling at “freeway speeds” struck the back of the patrol car. The force of the impact caused the pickup to flip, and it came to a rest in the right lane. The impact crushed the patrol car, but miraculously no one was injured.

The pickup driver has been cited for reckless driving and failure to change lanes. Oregon State Police say that the wreck is a reminder of the importance of changing lanes for stopped vehicles.
