Pickup driver fled after causing semi hauling double trailers to jackknife and overturn, police say

A Michigan sheriff’s office is trying to track down a motorist who left the scene of a semi truck crash yesterday.

The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on September 13 in Ellington Township, Michigan.

According to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, a 2016 Kenworth semi hauling double trailers loaded with 50 tons of salt was traveling east on Deckerville Road when a westbound white pickup truck entered the truck’s lane.

Police say that the 29 year old truck driver swerved to avoid the pickup, but this caused the rear trailer to jackknife.

The driver lost control of the truck and went into a ditch on the south side of Deckerville Road, rolling over.

No injuries were reported.

If you have any information on the white pickup involved in the crash, you’re asked to contact Deputy Ryan Herford at rherford@tuscolacounty.org.
