POLICE: Search on for truck driver involved in incident with out of control wheelchair

Published:

Police are searching for a semi truck involved in an incident with a man in a wheelchair on Tuesday.

The accident happened on November 22nd in northwest Miami-Dade in Florida on November 22nd.

According to NBC Miami, a man in a motorized wheelchair was at the intersection of Northwest 7th Avenue and 103rd Street when he lost control of the wheelchair and was sideswiped by a semi truck with the right of way. The truck driver then left the scene.

Investigators say that it is unlikely the truck driver didn’t know he had struck the man. The truck involved is described as a white truck pulling a yellow trailer with the letters MSC on the side.

The victim’s name has not been released, but he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He underwent surgery on Tuesday and was reportedly recovering as of Tuesday night.

“Please come forward, I’m not gonna press charges or nothing, I just want you to come forward, show your face,” said Marta Rojas, wife of the victim. “Be a man, be a woman.”
