Police say that a semi truck that fell off of a bridge in Louisiana on Monday was too heavy for the structure, which may have contributed to the wreck.
The accident happened on Monday morning, September 26th in Acadia Parish, Louisiana.
According to KATC ABC 3, the semi truck was driving over the Estherwood Pontoon Bridge on La. 91 when the driver lost control and struck the guardrail, sending the rig over the side of the bridge.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reports that the bridge will remain closed for several days, forcing detours for nearby residents who use the bridge for work.
The DOTD reports that they are working to replace the pontoon bridge with a more permanent structure, but that construction is not slated to go up for bid for at least a year.
