Release of semi vs. bus dash cam prompts speculation from fellow truckers

Published:

Dash cam video showing the impact between a semi truck and a school bus after a serious wreck last week has prompted speculation over the cause of the crash.

The accident happened on March 30th in Levy County, Florida on Highway 19 as the bus was stopped to let students off. The wreck injured five students and the school bus driver. Two of the students were considered to be in critical condition. Since then, three students have been released from the hospital, and the condition of the critically injured students has been improved from critical to serious, reported ABC 20 News.

In the video, the truck can be seen heading towards the stopped bus at 72 mph before swerving into the left lane at the last second. However, the evasive maneuver was not enough, and the rig struck the back end of the bus, seriously damaging both vehicles.

Now, truck drivers across the internet are speculating over whether this accident was a result of distracted driving or a medical issue.
